Wednesday Gaming – Dark Pictures Anthology Loss, Twitch, Suicide Squad and MORE!

Catch up on the latest news, rumours and announcements from the world of video games, tech and entertainment:

– British actor Tony Pankhurst, known for providing both the voice and face model for the Curator in the “The Dark Pictures Anthology” game series, has died at the age of 67. He passed away in May this year, though the cause of death remains unknown.

– The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has ended its 17-year partnership with Nintendo and Sega for the long-running “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games” franchise. According to series producer Lee Cocker, this is because the IOC were looking to explore new partnerships and strategies, including NFTs, in order to generate “more money” for themselves.

– Despite its popularity and substantial annual revenues, streaming platform Twitch is apparently struggling to turn a profit. This has caused concerns among employees, who fear being laid off as a result: at least 900 employees have already been let go between 2023 and 2024.

– If a new cutscene in “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” is anything to go by, Justice League members such as Batman, Superman and Green Latern, who were killed off in the game’s Story Mode, have the potential to return in DLC story packs.

Check in again next week for the latest video game news – ’til then, keep up the button-mashing!
